2 months

The girls were 2 months on the 15th. I was only 2 days late taking the picture and now 2 more days late to post. I have accepted this is my new life for now, being late. I'm told, it will get better ; )
Here they are:

Addy
aka Spitter Bug, peanut

9.3 pounds
22 1/2 inches

Molly
aka Molly Dolly, piggy girl
10 pounds
22 inches
I never would have guessed that Addy was longer. She is always curled up, so I guess it is hard to tell. They are growing fast and time is flying. My maternity leave is officially over, now it is just Christmas Break!!

Bloomin' Artist

Connor has not been neglected these past 8 weeks...he has been very busy. He loves his sisters dearly and is a huge helper during the day. He has been pretty stuck to his dad when he is home, which is great for all parties involved!
Before the girls were born he and daddy did leaf rubbings one night. I'm not sure what happened to his pants here!

More recently, he went with my parents to kids Christmas party that my dads work was holding. He came home with all sorts of goodies, but the car he decorated was by far my favorite. I can't believe the little boy that he has turned into!!

Sisterly Love

Eight months ago, I couldn't imagine what life would be like with 2 babies. Now I can't remember what it was like to have just 1 baby. They sleep best snuggled together, on the couch, and during the day ; ) I'm glad they will always have each other!!

Spit.

Connor was never a spitter. In fact, I don't think I ever put a bib on him until he started eating cereal. I always wondered why people gave so many bibs, I had a huge stack that never got used.

Until now.

Both girls are spitters. It constantly rolls out, flies out and gets squeezed out. It doesn't matter the angle they eat at or how much I burp them. It is so annoying, especially after having a baby that didn't spit at all! I am thankful for all the bibs we had from Connor and all of the new ones we've gotten. We through 6-10 bibs some days! Here's to two darling bibs that I don't want them to spit on!! Thanks so much to Jen, we love these bibs!!!

Sunday Outing

We attended church for the first time today since the girls were born. They slept right through and never got out of their car seats (if only they'd sleep that well at night!). When we got home, I thought I'd better get a picture of them in their cute dresses (that are already getting to small) and too big tights. They didn't really want their pictures taken at the time!! Couldn't be because they were hungry!!

The First Month

Most of you know, the twins were born last month!! It has been a busy month!

Here they are the day they were born:

Addy Marie Molly Elizabeth

5 pounds 11 oz. 6 pounds 6 oz.
19 1/2 inces 20 1/2 inches

They are amazing. They are beautiful. They are so sweet. They have changed our lives forever. Each day is a new challenge, but all very worth it. I hate to rush them being little, but I am so anxious to see them grow together as they grow up.

The hardest thing since they came home is the lack of sleep. We knew it would be hard, but no one can prepare you for the sleepless nights. I tell myself every night "this too shall pass". On that note, Addy went 6 hours last night. Many of you know the panic I had when I realized it! Molly on the other hand was up about every 2!

Here they are today, one month old! I stole the monthly photo shoot idea from Jen, I hope she doesn't mind (she has all sorts of good ideas!).

Addy

Molly
I hope to post more often, I know I'll look back and wonder where the time (and my tiny babies) went...no promises though. Nothing like a toddler and one month olds ruling my life!!

Have a great week!!

Too cute!

I had to share these cute onesies that we got as a gift for the girls! What fun it is to have creative (and thoughtful!) friends ; )

Here is one for when they may not be getting along so well!!

Thanks Gwen!! We can't wait to take pictures of them modeling them!!

30 Weeks...

I have taken way fewer pictures of my belly with pregnancy #2, ok so this is the first one!! I'm just not so sure I am going to want pictures proving how large my stomach really got.

School has started and I still feel good, although I do miss my daily naps!! Can you believe I am sleeping better at night without them!?!? I had an ultrasound this week and Baby A was 3 pounds and Baby B was 3 pounds 7ounces. When you look at the picture, keep in mind that there is already 6+ pounds of baby in there!! I love that they are packing on the pounds!!

Getaway

We decided to go on a little low key getaway this summer knowing that this could be last low key summer we have for a very long time. Ken's vision was water with a dock, I took it from there and this is where we landed.
We went to Houghton Lake in Michigan and it was beautiful!! Our cottage was great, the view was amazing, and the family time was priceless.

I did feel a bit guilty about our current boat situation, this being our first time at the water since the big sale. We decided that Connor did need one after all, so we ended up purchasing another one and it was so worth the splurge...he loved every second of it!!
We spent every day but one, relaxing and hanging out. I'm glad, Ken needed it. I'll post about our big adventure day later.

Have a great weekend!

Choo Choo

Connor was so thrilled when Papa finally got out the choo-choo for him to ride. He could go around for hours on end!! Now you can imagine what he wants to do all the time...

Still alive!!

I am still here!! There are lots of changes going on in our lives that may explain my absence to those of you who don't know!!

Although we have been telling people for about 2 months now, I realize that there are lots of people out there who haven't heard that we are expecting...twins!! Twin GIRLS!!! Poor daddy!! I knew something about this pregnancy was different from the get go, as I was so sick from the beginning. I had no idea until I was laying on the ultrasound table that my life was going to change this much! I will admit that we had a rough couple of days letting the idea of two babies at once sink in. It wasn't until about 3-4 days after we found out that my true concern turned to the babies.
Connor is excited to have sisters! He kisses them often! This is a few weeks ago, so things have gotten quite larger since then!

Since the shock, we have sold our boat and put a For Sale by Owner sign in the front yard. Our house will not be big enough, some day. Originally we were going to list with a realtor in July, but I think we've decided to wait to do that until next spring. We came up with pros and cons and not to sounds lazy, but I just don't have the energy to move (or clean) right now. If we can do it before then without a realtor, hooray for us. This way we have a little more control of showings with two babies and one mommy not sleeping!! Ken is still very busy working on little to do projects around the house!
Any takers??!

As many of you know, I am a bit of a control freak and a planner. Seeing as how this was not in my plans, I have learned to let some things go.

Connor and I were very happy to welcome summer break!! I can't believe how much I nap with him, but I am glad it fits into our day! My doctor said my job right now is to rest...I don't know how I'll handle being awake all day when school starts again. Yes, to those of you wondering, I am going back in the fall.

Still lovin' the park!!

I think that's enough for now...I'm sorry for my absence, I'll try my best to post some quick blogs more often.

Have a great week!

Slacker Mommy!

I feel guilty that it has been so long since I have posted (sorry Gwen!). To be honest, I have had plenty to blog about...just a lack of motivation. Could it be the depressing weather??! In the month plus since I have blogged: Connor turned 2, Ken and I went on a quick getaway to Phoenix, and we had our annual Easter Egg Hunt at Uncle John and Aunt Natalie's!! I'm sure there was more that went on, but that is all I can remember for now!!
We had a Handy Manny birthday party for Connor, this is his latest thing. My mom and I made tool cakes and we kept it low key by just having our family over to celebrate. A party for a 2-year old is a lot of work!! We were all exhausted by the end of the day. I do think that Connor's favorite gift came from mommy and daddy, a bike!! Although, he thought it was from his cousin Madison, because she is the one who pushed it out of the back room!! Oh well ; )

Here are a few highlights!
These are the cakes: Pat, Felipe, and Turner.

Connor on his bike!

He loves when people sing "Happy Birthday" to him. When we rock, I'll ask what he wants me to sing to him and he still says happy birthday ; )

Well I head back to school tomorrow after a cold Spring Break (minus the time in Phoenix!). Hopefully I'll get another post up before a month goes by!!

Have a great week!

Too Much Water

I am off school today for a flood day. These have become all too common in our parts. Although I am not directly (thank goodness) effected by the flood, I feel for the many people that are. As the river is still rising and we have rain in the forecast, everyone here is on edge.

I did at first look at this as a day to get caught up on many things such as: laundry, cleaning, grading, grades, errands, the list could go on. Instead, I played with Connor, did a few loads of laundry, and sat on the couch. At least, if we are off tomorrow I will still have plenty to do!

I'll try to add a picture of all the water later.

A Night Out

I always have great intentions about posting more. But why? Our life is so uneventful.

This happens to be a little excitement in our life! Pukka is the official hat of Ohio High School Football this year. Since Ken was responsible for this exciting move, we had the honor to attend their banquet for Ken to present a check to the association. Yes, Ken had to speak in front of people and did an awesome job (those from our wedding understand!). Coach Tressel was there and Ken had him sign a hat for his office. We had a nice dinner and stayed in the big city for an official adult night.
Here are a few of the highlights!

Mommy's Little Helper

Now, If I could just teach him to fold it and put it away!!

Snow much fun!

On one of the not so bitter cold days, Connor made it outside with his dad to play. They didn't last too long, but long enough for Connor to talk about it every time we see snow! Here are a few the 'first playing in the snow photos'...

The next days we went to Grandma and Grandpa Rood's where Connor got to go on his first sled ride with his cousin Kohl. His favorite part of the day was riding the 4-wheeler with me ; ) I'm not sure why we didn't get any pictures of that madness!!
Have a great week : )

All work, no play

I am usually quite busy with the daily grind that by the end of the day I am too tired for the fun things that I want to do. Over our little hiatus, I took some fun time. I saw these at a craft show and (like many other things) decided I could make them. With a little help from my mom we whipped it up in no time. This just may be the Rood gift of '09 (model not included!). I also did some scrapping. I'm almost done with Connor's first year, too bad he's almost 2. Catching up with that is my summer project : )

Back to the daily grind tomorrow...Happy New Year!!
