I am off school today for a flood day. These have become all too common in our parts. Although I am not directly (thank goodness) effected by the flood, I feel for the many people that are. As the river is still rising and we have rain in the forecast, everyone here is on edge.
I did at first look at this as a day to get caught up on many things such as: laundry, cleaning, grading, grades, errands, the list could go on. Instead, I played with Connor, did a few loads of laundry, and sat on the couch. At least, if we are off tomorrow I will still have plenty to do!
I'll try to add a picture of all the water later.

A Night Out
I always have great intentions about posting more. But why? Our life is so uneventful.
This happens to be a little excitement in our life! Pukka is the official hat of Ohio High School Football this year. Since Ken was responsible for this exciting move, we had the honor to attend their banquet for Ken to present a check to the association. Yes, Ken had to speak in front of people and did an awesome job (those from our wedding understand!). Coach Tressel was there and Ken had him sign a hat for his office. We had a nice dinner and stayed in the big city for an official adult night.
Here are a few of the highlights!

Snow much fun!
On one of the not so bitter cold days, Connor made it outside with his dad to play. They didn't last too long, but long enough for Connor to talk about it every time we see snow! Here are a few the 'first playing in the snow photos'...

All work, no play
I am usually quite busy with the daily grind that by the end of the day I am too tired for the fun things that I want to do. Over our little hiatus, I took some fun time. I saw these at a craft show and (like many other things) decided I could make them. With a little help from my mom we whipped it up in no time. This just may be the Rood gift of '09 (model not included!).
I also did some scrapping. I'm almost done with Connor's first year, too bad he's almost 2. Catching up with that is my summer project : )
Back to the daily grind tomorrow...Happy New Year!!

Busy, Busy
Between Christmas, Connor's vocabulary, and household projects we have had an exhausting last few weeks.

Connor's vocabulary has changed so much in a week that it is amazing. He still talks a lot, but the way he says things is different. It is no longer ma ma and da da, but mommy and daddy. The most amazing and wonderful thing is that he has started saying "yeah". To us that is huge, all he would ever answer was no, when he clearly meant yes. We can't wait for Cathy to hear!!
Ken has been working on his gift from Santa...
he must have been a good boy this year!
We had a wonderful Christmas! Connor was treated well by many people, too well for a one year old! It was so fun watching him on Christmas morning!!
In no particular order, I would say that his top three gifts are:
1. choo-choo
2. kitchen
3. a broom (yes you read that right!)
He spins in circles, not knowing what he should be playing with. The train is constantly going. He starts to cook, or sweep, or saw and we turn the train off. He turns it back on. What a lovely background sounds it provides
Can you believe that Sharpay from HSM was at our family Christmas? We couldn't!!
And lastly, what would two weeks off be without a project at our house? Here is the latest project...a kitchen update. I refuse to post a before picture because I am actually ashamed of it! I will say, it was just shelving and no seating. Hats off to daddy's vision, it is awesome!!
