Working Weekend

While many people picnicked and relaxed over the 4th, we were hard at work! For those of you that don't know, we seem to always be busy working on our house. Had HGTV's Property Virgins been around 5 years ago, I doubt that we would be living here! We really had no idea what we were getting into...oh well! Our project list is very long, but it feels great to get some of those little things done! One step closer to the hopes of moving to town!
Here is the fun that we had:
A new patio door.

A finished playroom! This is exciting because it takes our house from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom.

This is the exterior picture of the 'before' from last summer.

Here is the interior finished product! I know I still need curtains, I am hoping to make them this weekend, I am still looking for the perfect fabric. I also should hang things on the wall, but I hate to mess with the beautiful drywall!
Lots of aluminum soffit hung! It isn't quite finished and of course I didn't get a picture taken.
Somehow I convinced Ken to take a few more days off to do more work before his traveling kicks up again. I did promise him a day or two of fun though!! We did take some time off to celebrate my birthday both with family and alone with Ken. I can't believe I am another year closer to 30, where does the time go??!

Once we get to the finished product, we feel so good (and tired). As you can imagine getting there is rough. Between a 1 year old, his naps, and normal project issues...we are so lucky to have each other. I know I don't tell Ken enough how grateful I am for all that he does for us! I love having a handy husband, I hope he loves it too!

Shout out!

This shout out goes to Connor's favorite baby-sitter Cathy. Although Connor and I have adjusted quite nicely to staying home (we are still working on how to sleep in past 7:30!), he does miss Cathy and all his friends at her house. Every night before bed, we say good night to Cathy, to be sure not to forget about her before August rolls around. Unfortunately, that is only next month!

Thanks to Cathy for all of the love that she gives Connor!

Have a great 4th of July!!

Margot Elizabeth

Our friends Gwen and Trevor were in town last week visiting with their new little bundle of joy, Margot! She is so beautiful and sweet, I can't believe that Connor was that little just a year ago. People say that Margot looks just like her mom and we'd have to agree. It is just so sad that they live so far away, play dates are going to be quite difficult! We are just going to have to keep hoping that Trevor gets a job in Ohio!
Connor wasn't quite sure what to think of mama holding a baby, especially one wearing pink!!

Mmmm...

Today Connor and I went out for some grub with my parents. There is always dessert when papa is around!! Connor loved every bite of it!
I guess I can add whipped cream and chocolate ice cream to his 'favorites' list. Isn't summer wonderful??

Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there! In my opinion, this day was way more fun this year as Connor is able to participate in gift giving. He has no clue why, but he is good at handing daddy things. We sent Ken on a hunt following clues to find his gifts.
Finally, they found (and put together) a little something for Ken to enjoy!

In the afternoon, we decided to go out for a train ride. We met my parents and Noah there. The boys got to watch the train steam up and then they took a few rides! Dad's got to ride free!! It was a great day.

Have a great week! Connor and I are adjusting nicely to the stay-at-home life ; ) Watch out daddy!

Finally!

The longest school year ever has finally come to a end!! After two floods, sewage back-up in our new school, and too many snow days we are finally on summer break! Although it is always exciting to begin the summer, it is always sad for a teacher to see the year come to an end. I had a great group of kids this year and no two classes are ever alike! This obviously is their silly picture!

The saddest part of the day is saying good bye to a teaching friend. Amy (the one who looks like me!) has decided she and her one year old just can't make the one hour drive to school anymore :-( We have some great memories together and hope to stay in touch.

Amy, we will miss you and Miss Natalie!!
